Track analysis:

1 – Hypnosis Mic – Alternative Rap Battle-

This is the theme song for the upcoming smartphone game, Hypnosis Mic -Alternative Rap Battle-, scheduled to launch in December 2019.

Dark, distorted melodies lead the way in this powerful song. The beat is slow paced, making sure that every rhyme, line and witty attack sink in and make an impact. The bass line is deep, the drums hit hard while the fancy brass melodies add a classic hip-hop touch. White it is rather subtle the instrumental adds a new, unique element to each of the characters, just for their rhymes and then goes back its simplistic, yet effective, hard-hitting instrumental. This is a nice touch that adds a unique flavor to the instrumental and enhances the rap parts.

The rap performances are better than ever and demand respect. Almost every seiyuu improved their skills adding their own touch to each line and rhyme they tackle, and have completely embraced the quirks of their characters as noticeable by their witty performances.

All in all this is one of the best Division All Stars songs released to date. While previous songs by this ensemble group were quite good, there was never a perfect balance in the rap performances as the one we can listen to in this song. The song isn’t overcrowded on the vocal end and not overdone on the instrumental side. Great overall performance in what is another hit song for this franchise.

Final rating:

The song is available for purchase and streaming.
