Track by track analysis:

1. One Side

One Side kicks off with splashy and powerful drums delivering us with an immense energy that persists throughout the track, as we can notice by the fast tempo of the instrumental piece. Though OLDCODEX‘s track’s tend to have their usual M.O, One Side goes against all the clichés as the band appears to have fully embraced their punk-rock side giving more air time to the rock elements, as opposed to the previous releases, which featured synths instrumentals with pads.

This time around, however, we have quite some interesting tempo changes delivered by the guitar and the drums, as they seem to be in perfect synchronism, while the bass is running wild. In fact, Ta_2‘s screamo and the guitar solo hinted on the main focus of this track which is its rock influence and heavy instrumentals, that OLDCODEX have streered from, in their last releases. 4.5/5

Final rating:

One Side has embraced the punk-rock genre to its full potential. It is no secret that for the past few releases OLDCODEX has taken on a liking of electronic instrumentals and more synth elements, which has resulted countless times, yet in its essence the band has been lacking its rock elements, and One Side has delivered us with precisely that.

All in all, One Side has shown us the potential of the band in persuing the punk-rock genre approach with confidence, a path the band should chose more often. If anything, it is in these tracks that we do indeed see the band’s full potential, be it the instrumental piece or Ta_2‘s vocal performance.

The single is only available on digital stores.
