After topping the iTunes charts in July with the pre-release track ヒカリ断ツ雨 (Hikari Tatsu Ame), it’s time for Saito to snatch a top 10 spot on Oricon with the full single. And there’s a new record set thanks to this.
Saito‘s second single “夜明けはまだ (Yoake wa mada)/ヒカリ断ツ雨 (Hikari Tatsu Ame)” has set the bar high for his next releases. Ecletic, emotional and entertaining, this single has been the talk in town among seiyuu fans and received top marks from us – you can read our review HERE.
Today on Soma Saito‘s official twitter account, the staff went on to thank everyone for Saito‘s astouding 6th place on Oricon.

Saito is the only seiyuu to achieve two top 10’s on Oricon (Fish Story ranked #9 and remained on the chart for weeks) during his rookie year. This is an amazing achievement, he’s currently the most successful rookie singer (coming from a seiyuu background) ever.

“Yoake wa mada/Hikari Tatsu Ame” sold 18,983 copies on its first week, earning Saito another top 10 feature – the single ultimately ranked as #7 on Oricon’s weekly chart.
If we compare him with the heavyweights in the music business (seiyuu background), he’s ranked higher than GRANRODEO with their single “Move on! Ibara Michi” – top 20 – and he’s outsold Mamoru Miyano (currently most successful and best selling male solo singer coming from a seiyuu background) on his rookie year as a solo singer. Miyano‘s “The Love“, released early in August only sold 18,708 copies.
This confirms our previous statement, Saito is currently the most successful rookie singer (with seiyuu background) ever. Congratulations!
