The “Kachou Fuugetsu” series comes to an end but not without Eguchi delivering a completely fresh performance. Takuya Eguchi showcased his polished rap skills in what is one of the eeriest and darkest performances in the series.

Eguchi manages to effortlessly close this chapter with top marks. Tide -光の射す方へ- mixes a dark, haunting piano melody with simple heavy guitar riffs (but packing a certain edge to them) and minimal bassy drums, creating a melody worth of being an OST for a thriller movie of some sort. The song’s pacing is rather entertaining for the listener, building up the tempo and tension as we reach the powerful chorus in which strings join in to slay everyone that wasn’t already slayed by Eguchi’s rapping skills. Yes, he’s rapping. As most of you might know if you’ve been following most of the seiyuu units that he’s part of (especially Trignal), Eguchi is known for surprisingly being a good rapper with a good flow. In this song it’s no exception, he raps through the verses and explodes in emotion in the chorus when he puts to good use his singing technique. He’s not the most polivalent member in SolidS for nothing. This is just a small proof of those never ending talents of his.
As a whole, this track is incredibly fresh, not sounding anything alike any of the other instances in the “Kachou Fuugetsu” series, be it from his unit or from any Tsukino-Pro unit that participated in this project. This song has a unique feel that will draw you to it, whether it’s thanks to the instrumentalization or the vocal performance – that is up to you, the listener.
On our side we need to give the props to Eguchi for delivering another impressive performance, he upped the bar left already sky high by his group mates and added something completely different and new into the mix for us to enjoy.
