VOTE NOW to feature your favorite male seiyuu in our annual TOP 15

1voting

Two years ago we made our first TOP 15 SEIYUU WITH THE BEST SINGING VOICE.

Everyone’s response to it was amazing (it’s was our #1 searched article for more than a year, thanks guys), but at that time we kind of dropped the idea of making it an annual feature in our website as we were only starting off, and very few people knew about The Hand That Feeds HQ.

But now things are different: two years after our official opening we can say that we have a growing number of readers visiting our website everyday, and we finally think that maybe this is the best time to try and ascertain how big of a community is the one following our website, so that in the future we can make some giveaways and special events.

We all know that there are a lot of “Best singer” polls out there but most of those are aimed for the native Japanese, and no foreigners are allowed to vote.

Knowing that, we decided to make this an annual TOP feature, where you can vote on your favorite seiyuu to choose who has the best singing voice and, in the process, participate with us and the rest of the community to make this website a place for all seiyuu fans to enjoy. We hope this will the first of many posts / interactions with our readers.

Vote, spread the word and first of all, have fun.

Rules:

  • You can vote ONCE a day
  • Choose up to your 3 favorite seiyuu
  • Share this poll with your friends and / or seiyuu fandom on tumblr, twitter, facebook or other social media
  • The comments section of the poll will be open so everyone is free to hop in and share the reason why you voted, what you love so much about those seiyuu, etc – we wanna read it

Additional info:

  • Voting ends by November 15th at 00:01 GMT
  • Out of this impressive seiyuu list only the 15 most voted will be featured in the final TOP
  • There will be 5 honorable mentions
  • Top will be available in our website by the end of the year

Make sure to vote for the seiyuu that in your opinion has the best singing voice. With all being said, have fun and please anticipate the results!

VOTING IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!

  1. I read your previous ranking and I still think Kishow’s the top, but Shouta, SuzuKen, Suwabe and Mamo’s good too….Honestly, like one of the previous commenter said, I really hope this doesn’t turn into a popularity contest. I love them, but really, Kensho has a sweet voice but he doesn’t do well live (then again he’s still pretty new) and Tattsun’s voice is sometimes unstable //sigh. I hope my comment doesn’t come off as hating.

    • You stole my words completely! I understand the hype behind Tattsun and Kensho but they both are most of the times weak on a live setting, especially Tattsun (that can be easily spotted with a bias free mindset if anyone watches OCD’s live dvd’s). Regarding Kensho, that sometimes is audible even in the cd’s.
      This website is hate-free, don’t worry 🙂

  2. I love polls like this (though I forgot to come back a few times D:). I went with my top two (Tatsuhisa Suzuki and Tetsuya Kakihara) and am rotating between a few others that I like for number 3 (tough decisions!). I’m looking forward to seeing the results 🙂

    • Whoops. Thought my first comment didn’t post so I ended up rewriting it. They’re almost identical! Sorry about that. >_<

  3. I love polls like this (though I’ve forgotten to come back a few days D:). I had a hard time choosing so I went with my top two (Tatsuhisa Suzuki and Tetsuya Kakihara) and am revolving number three with others that I like (tough decision!) I can’t wait to see the end results 🙂

  4. I voted for Naonii, mamo and kishow <3 I'm only biased with naonii, but I think the three of them have the best singing voices :3

  5. Voted for Kakihara, Irino and Suzumura. I feel that Irino is so underrated despite his excellent voice and his blooming talent as both composer and lyricist…I wish people would give him more credit. He has something in his voice that is so soothing yet so powerful. (And plus point he can play the guitar. What else to ask?)

This is my bias, but for me Kakihara is one of the most solid singers I’ve come across in the seiyuu industry. He’s not simply singing; for me he has a special ability to invoke whatever emotions he has while he’s singing to the listener. I have to admit I cried when I listened to Saichaina for the first time during the chorus, it was so emotional. And even more amazing that during the lives, he can reduce me to tears like when he performed Unmei no Inryoku in Kirafes 2013 and his GENERATIONS live. This man has an unearthly ability to click and connect with people on an emotional level through his songs.

And as for Suzumura, this goes back to the days where Digimon Frontier aired. It’s not wrong to say that I grew up with him; and he’s an excellent lyricist, composer and singer. He deserves a place in the top 15.

Thank you for making this poll, it was fun to see what the others are thinking of! C:

  6. Suzuki Tatsuhisa and Taniyama Kishow are my eternal top two. Suzuki-san’s range, energy, and diversity (show cased effortlessly in live concerts), and Taniyama-san’s range AND powerful vocals (which are just as flawless live in concert as they are in the studio recording by the way) have solidified them as my top two. Would highly recommend everyone go see both Oldcodex and Granrodeo in concert should they find themselves in Japan. You won’t regret it I can promise you that!
After that though… Why do you have to make me choose like this?! Miyano Mamoru is just so fluid, the high notes Aoi Shouta can reach (OMG is his voice beautiful and angelic), Morikubo Shotarou has that edge to his voice that is alurring…. Need I go on? Guess I’ll just have to keep coming back and rotating between them for my third pick every day.

  7. Do you mind if the vote to join Russian fans? ( ゚o⌒)
That why my English maybe is not very good, sorry.

Hosoya, definitely. His vocal is strong, natural and really particularly deep melodic.
Also amazing vocals of Suzuki Tatsuhisa,Toshiki Masuda,Kenji Nojima,Toshiyuki Toyonaga,Hino Satoshi. Will vote for them.
And…VoiceFecchi, really thanks for your comments m(_ _)m

    • Voting is open for everyone in the world, so no problem, Russian fans can join this poll – in reality, a lot of them have joined this poll so far.
      No problem. Interesting choices.
      Thanks for your votes!!

  8. SUCH a hard choice, but I had to vote for my faves Kenichi Suzumura, Mamoru Miyano and Showtaro Morikubo. But I love Junichi Suwabe and Kishow Taniyama too. I just love all of them to be honest. >///<

Though my absolute favorite seiyuu of all time, Hikaru Midorikawa, didn't make the list, he's still number 1 in my eyes, hehe. <3

    • Yeah I feel you!
OMG a Midorikawa fan in here! Welcome! He’s also my all time favorite 🙂 Although he didn’t make the list is one hell of an amazing seiyuu

      • OMG I’ve never met anyone else whose favorite seiyuu was Hikaru Midorikawa! ^^ I guess I should have guessed that by your name, hehe. We’re officially best friends now. Lol ;D

        • Hahaha First time here too 🙂 Yeah the alias I’m using almost gives away my favoritism towards Midorin haha
Nice to have you on board!

  9. Thank you for making this poll!! There so many people that I want to vote for that I kind of vote for different people each day LOL. I’m glad to see Saito Soma on it because I have been loving his singing voice lately. 🙂

  10. I will vote for my most fav seiyuu’s voice which is Masuda Toshiki, KENN and Suzuki Yuto! Really love their voice! (๑✧◡✧๑)♪ Especially as MARGINAL#4!
And also their drama cd of other characters!! So cool and ama..amazing!!!
Will vote for them everyday! And I also switch Masuda Toshiki with Takahashi Naozumi! Nao-nii voice is too cute! I really love them all!! ヾ(*´∀`*)ノ~♥

    • Glad to see people recognizing the vocal capabilities behind the guys of Marginal#4, sometimes I think people underestimate them. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to vote for this poll 🙂

  11. How did you guys decide on the seiyuus that’s included in the polls? One of my favorite seiyuus, Nobuhiko Okamoto, isn’t on the list, but I did see my other favorites, so I still had fun taking this poll. ^.^ (Sorry if this sounds like a compliant.)

    • Not at all. We decided the seiyuu based on their activity this year so far – solo and group wise (even if the group is virtual like the cases of X.I.P and SolidS). That is why Nobuhiko and many others weren’t featured. Glad you had fun taking this poll and thanks for visiting us!

      • Ahh I see. That makes sense. So this is an annual poll? If so, I’ll be looking forward to taking it again next year. ^.^ (To be honest, even though Nobuhiko Okamoto’s one of my favorite seiyuus, I do think other seiyuus have better singing voices.) Nice icon, by the way. Just looking at the picture reminds me of the scene where Takano was laughing. xD

        • Yes it is. And we’re glad that you’re already thinking of voting on it!
Thanks 🙂 That is probably one of the best scenes in the whole Sekaiichi Hatsukoi anime series, Takano is laughing – I am laughing haha

  12. I love Suzuki Tatsuhisa! I love his voice whether the deep ones like Kurosaki Ranmaru’s or like Tachibana Makoto. Although I never heard him sing on live, for me it wasn’t his fault if the notes were too high for him since the arrangement were already given to him but as a singer he should do it right? Anyways, I know that he is trying his best to please all of his fans.

  13. my 3 will definitely be tattsun, suzuken, and hanaecchi/nacchan.
i have seen tattsun and suzuken live. and i like their singing so much i bought almost all of their albums..

nacchan is relatively new but i’m impressed with his char songs / endings / openings he sang. to name a few, sentimental rain and cloud nine. also the makura no danshi opening 😀 😀 i hope to see more from him.

other notable mentions for me will be mamochan, kishou, shoutan, kakki, terashi, and TRIGNAL. TRIGNAL sounds better when they’re together.. i don’t know about individually though.

lets hope for new faces to appear 😀

  14. Voted Toyonaga Toshiyuki because that guy is so brilliant and never failes to make me smile. It makes me really sad when people don’t see his talent or simply ignore it coz he doesn’t voice thousands of popular characters. He deserves so much more recognition than he gets. His voice has such a wide range that I find myself stunned more often than not. He can do cute and bubbly as in ‘Biscuit & Honey & Holiday’ or go all ‘Nagori Yuki’ on you and just when you think you know his singing, he gets all serious and throws songs like ‘No Control’, ‘Reason’ and ‘Ohashi’ in your face. Or ‘Siren’!
The secret song from ‘Music of the Entertainment’ alone should be enough to warrant him a place in the top 5. It’s a freakin’ enka … I mean, come on! There aren’t many seiyuus on that list here that could do an enka without messing it up.
Sadly polls like this are more about popularity than about who can actually sing … ;/

  15. I feel like today is the day when Kiiyan and Shoutan deserve all the votes, since it’s their birthday. >w< Well, one can only hope. :')

  16. Voted for Morikubo Shoutarou,Takahashi Naozumi and Toyonaga Toshiyuki. Being a seiyuu fan since time immemorial, I grew up listening to their albums and character songs and their singing voices never failed to amaze me.

I just wish we have Tsuda Eisuke and Kiuchi Hidenobu too. The singing voices of these two are also amazing, especially Tsuda Eisuke, who I always refer to as The Tenor, since his voice is perfect for theatrical and opera performances.

But then, that’s just me though. And yes, I hope this won’t turn into a popularity contest.

    • Glad to see some love for Takahashi Naozumi and Toyonaga Toshiyuki – two angelic voices that are so underrated. We thought about adding Kiuchi Hidenobu to the list but we wanted to make this about those who are incredibly active in the music business, especially this year be it as a unit or solo. We might, depending on the success of this poll, make something more focused on the great singers – putting aside the big names in the business that aren’t that great of singers but still win polls. Hidenobu won’t be missing that list, for those who don’t know how great he sings, they’re missing on so much. Regarding Tsuda Eisuke, I didn’t knew about him, but I’m gonna check his tenor voice 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and for the suggestions 🙂

  17. Any chance you’ll post like a running tally of the votes? Maybe a day-end percentage summary? Or how about something like just the top three of the day (no numbers) just so we have some idea of how things stand?

    • We’re updating our facebook/tumblr and twitter pages with those kinds of into until the mid of august. After that we’ll keep the results with us and only reveal them when the poll end. So that things can be a surprise.

  18. While I did vote for Mamo and Kiiyan (my eternal top two), I also voted for Kenichi Suzumura, who I think is pretty underrated in light of the newer names coming in. Same can be said for Morikubo. I had a tough time voting for the top three xD

For Suzumura-san, I voted for him aside from the two because having seen him live thrice (during Lantis Festival and his solo Manten Live), I think his live vocals surpass his recorded and his voice has so much power live (not as much as the other two of Tatsun but still credible). Furthermore, I love that he writes all the lyrics to his songs, complex as they are though. I think he’s also very versatile with his character songs too, singing enka to hip-hop for different franchises. His voice is also very soothing to the ears and during ballads, can sound really angelic. <3 I'll vote for my other favourites on other days!

  19. I know that Miyano Mamoru and Kishow are in Japan in the top best and I love both. Mamoru has a very wide singing range and Kishow’s voice is very unique and powerful !
But my favourite of all time is and will always be Suzuki Tatsuhisa. As the vocalist of OLDCODEX, you can hear him singing with a rock but melodic voice and he’s always very surprising in any new single or album. “That guy can sing like that ?” , I’m always amazed. But also, when you listen to his character songs you see all he can do with his voice. He is the one seiyu I always clearly hear when is singing with his character’s voice. And as a wonderful voice actor I’m always touched and emotional when I listen to his songs.
I have been blabbering a lot, sorry, but I really think he’s a very talented artist !

    • You’re not blabbering at all, it was an interesting insight we got from you. Usually when someone says that they like how Tatsuhisa sings it’s only because of character song “a” or “b”, not because of his talent to challenge any music genre and doing it incredibly well, be it as the vocalist of OLDCODEX, or even when he was in Cell Division unit with Waccha or when we was solo. This kind of insight from you was awesome and it’s nice to see/find someone who appreciates and sees the growth in his singing.

  20. The sad thing is that this will end up being a popularity contest. People won’t vote for the seiyuu with the best voice, but for the one they like most. I hate to use this example, but look at all the Kamiyan fans. I love him as a seiyuu, but objectively speaking, compared to others he isn’t the best singer, or at least certainly not in the top 5. And yet it is likely he will end up there because people let their bias get in the way. I just think it’s sad because the seiyuus with great singing voices won’t be appreciated simply because they aren’t as popular. 🙁

    • Names like Naozumi Takahashi, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Kenji Nojima, Yuto Suzuki and KENN have relatively small fanbases – well, I guess, besides KENN. And those 5 seiyuu are some of the best when it comes to singing. Sadly, so far in the voting, they are at the bottom which is pretty shocking.
I agree with you but don’t worry, we’ll be making our TOP 15 apart from the fans’ favorites. This is a first experiment we’re doing to see if we can work together with the seiyuu community as we are thinking about starting giveaways and many other things.

So, in reality there will be 2 different TOP’s – the one where the fans voted and ours – objectively done without any biases.

Thanks for stopping by and if you feel this is a popularity contest prove them wrong, we still have three months until the end of the poll. You can vote objectively for the best singing seiyuu once a day 🙂

      • Oh, I see. In that case, you have dispelled my worries. And I shall do my best to appreciate the less popular singing seiyuus, which I think deserve a higher level of recognition, for the next 3 months, you can count on it. 😉

        • hehe Glad to have dispelled your worries 🙂 We’re also voting in the poll so you’re not alone in this quest to vote for the not so popular seiyuu that sing incredibly well and deserve more recognition 🙂 Have fun!

    • The same thing could be asked about Hiroki Takahashi, Takashi Kondo, Genki Okawa and many others. In terms of activity in the music business we tried to feature the rising talents together with the already established ones. And when we compare the great majority of them to Toriumi’s singing (that is farely good) and activity in the music business, we’ve reached the conclusion that he didn’t have a place in this top. But from now on we’ll make more polls so Toriumi will have a chance to shine 🙂

  21. This kind of polls always have the same result, so I’m hoping to see new names!! There are some seiyuus who don’t get in the top 10 but actually deserve the title more than those who do imo… 😛

    • I know right? Sometimes it’s because of the fandom but so far from what I’m seeing at least the top 5 so far is like anything you’ve seen before – lots of new names and very talented ones are up for #1!

    • Remember to comeback everyday to vote for your favorite seiyuu! Up to 3 choices! Spread the word and we’ll have an awesome TOP in December 🙂

    • That’s the fun behind it! But as you can vote once a day in 3 of your favorite seiyuu, maybe you can vote in all the ones you love. Thanks for voting and please share the this poll with your friends 🙂
