This month is incredibly prolific regarding seiyuu releases be it music or gaming wise. This time we bring to you a new release scheduled to hit the stores on 27/11/13. “Mr.SADISTIC NIGHT” is the opening theme for shoujo anime “Diabolik Lovers” that started airing in September. The two actors give voice to two of the main characters, Midorikawa plays Ayato Sakamaki and Toriumi plays the role of Shu Sakamaki.
Up until now when we talked about this franchise we also think about how Takashi Kondo always sang the opening themes along with Midorikawa and Toriumi, for the game “Diabolik Lovers: Haunted dark bridal” the three seiyuu gave voice to the opening theme titled “MIDNIGHT PLEASURE” for the second game that was released last month the trio once again sings the opening this time titled “Unlimited Blood”. For the anime it was chosen that only Midorikawa and Toriumi would sing the opening theme.
“Mr.SADISTIC NIGHT” is an incredibly good song like some pieces that were behind the characters in the game. The raging guitars on the chorus, the double bassed drums and heavy basslines lead most of the character songs in this franchise which is probably one of the big pluses behind it all.
When we’re talking about seiyuu we have two names that are impossible to not talk about. Hikaru Midorikawa and Kousuke Toriumi are what we call “seiyuu royalty”. These two voice actors are the epitome of everything that’s great about a voice actor: dedication, experience, iconic characters in their repertoires, an amazing range or even a very characteristic voice tone that no one is able to copy along with a talent that outshines other seiyuu be it on the simplest or on the hardest things. Both of them have played inumerous characters counting from the beginning of their careers and are right now two of the most important seiyuu in the business. Hikaru Midorikawa (45) and Kousuke Toriumi (40) have worked together more than once sometimes playing antagonists like in Togainu No Chi (Shiki and Akira) or in Uta No Prince-Sama (Eiichi Ootori and Aijima Cecil) and other times members of the same families/guilds/associations – cases like in Diabolik Lovers in which both actors play members of the Sakamaki household (Ayato and Shu). Both actors have plenty of singing experience. Midorikawa was part of super seiyuu unit in the mid 90’s until early 00’s called “E.M.U”, released a solo album titled “Cool” and had several band projects throughout the years. Toriumi is part of seiyuu unit “St☆rish” (from the anime Uta No Prince Sama) and is also part of seiyuu unit フェロ☆メン (Feromen) with fellow seiyuu Junichi Suwabe.
The single is available for preorder on CDJAPAN for all overseas fans.
