Track analysis:

01.Scat Babys Show!!

Wataru Hatano and Takuya Sato make a flashy debut as a duet with “Scat Babys Show!!”. Between the alluring tone of the saxophone, the playfulness of the brass and drums, the funkiness of the guitar licks and bass line or even the timeless quality of the Rhodes piano, this instrumental perfectly created a laidback, textbook jazz-rock tune that will make you want to dance and / or sing along to it. Everything about it channels a summer-y vibe, making this the kind of song that is perfect to enjoy on an evening drive during summer.

On vocal duty we have Wataru Hatano and Takuya Sato, Scat Babys Show!!’s hosts. Now, when you hear these two names together, you know that you’re in for a solid performance filled with flair and sweet mid-to-low tones. Hatano and Sato were in perfect sync and fit perfectly with the song’s fast playful pacing to deliver an energetic and groovy performance. Usually, opening songs for radio shows aren’t as catchy nor with this high quality – both vocally and instrumentally -, so this is a rare find.

Scat Babys Show!!” is an entertaining song with a “feel good” vibe, sweet sounding melodies and stunning vocals. Top tier work on the instrumental by Yoshiharu Shiina (member of SURFACE, popular Japanese Pop-rock band), that created simple yet effective melodies, perfectly crafting a sweet summer evening drive soundscape that channels a “feel good” vibe. As impressive as this song is, I believe that it’ll go under the radar for some people, especially those that usually don’t care about radio show’s songs, however this song could easily pass for a regular single release by this duo given its quality. The instrumental is addictive, the vocals are the among the best within seiyuu units and the song can be on repeat nonstop and you won’t tire of it.

Stellar performance and great first release by this talented duo.
